Makakilo is a growing residential area located on Oahu's sunny southwestern shore. Overlooking the city, Makakilo reaches the 1,000 foot elevation at the very top. Makakilo means “observing eyes,” in Hawaiian, referring to the views from the hillside.
Makakilo is a convenient location near several beautiful recreational sites, including Barber’s Point, Kapolei Regional Park, Kamokila Park, Kahe Point Beach Park and Piliokake Beach Park. It is an excellent area for swimming, surfing, snorkeling and diving. There is deep-sea fishing, hiking or mountain climbing in this area. For golf lovers, there are seven courses within a 15 mile radius of Makakilo. Shopping centers, restaurants, and movie theaters are just down the road in Kapolei.
