Nuuanu real estate
Nuuanu Valley is within easy reach of downtown Honolulu. Nuuanu is noted for its historical and cultural importance in Hawaii’s history. Royalty and others sought after the Nuuanu because it was close to the ocean and yet cooled by the Koolau Mountains during the hot days of summer. Queen Emma built her summer palace there to escape the hot summers. Nuuanu has favorable weather, warm and tropical with lush vegetation because of showers that cool the land.
In ancient times one of the few routes across the island was over the cliff or “pali”. The Nuuanu Pali is one of the most visited sites on the island. Great hiking trails crisscross the Nuuanu area.
Hiking is an unexpected experience so close to downtown Honolulu. There are thick canopy of liana vines, giant bamboo they rub against one another in the wind, Norfolk pines and wild shell ginger. As the elevation rises, one is often blessed with showers and cool breezes.
