The Lanikai lifestyle
The Hawaiian name, Lanikai means "Sea Heaven." Lanikai is just a 30 minute drive from Honolulu or the airport, five minutes to Kailua Town and light years away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world.
The long strip of sparkling sand meets the clear deep turquoise green water with twin islands, Mokumanu and Mokulua off shore, sanctuaries for seabirds, makes this one of the most scenic beaches in Hawaii. It is as close to heaven as one gets. It is one of the best swimming beaches in the state. There are places to kayak, windsurf, walk and ride bikes. Owning a home in Lanikai will have you feeling satisfied that you've picked one of the best places in the world to live.
Directions for driving to Lanikai
Alala Road is the main route into and out of Lanikai. After entering the neighborhood, Aalapapa Drive takes you further into Lanikai on the mauka (closer to the mountain) side. At the end of Lanikai, the road loops around, becoming Mokulua Drive. Continuing on Mokulua Drive will take you back to Kailua.
Lanikai Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) Report
Fifteen homes sold in Lanikai during 2010, more than double the seven Lanikai sales in 2009. In 2009, the first sale of the year closed on June 30th. After that things picked up nicely. In 2008 Lanikai had nine home sales, so things really picked up in 2010.
The average 2010 Lanikai home sale price was $2,105,066, down from $2,659,285 in 2009. Lanikai homes generally sold for 95% of their listed prices in 2010. Average time on market (DOM) was 91 days.
The lowest Lanikai sale price was $825,000 for a two bedroom, two bath cottage on Aalapapa Drive and the highest was $5,000,000 for a home with sandy beach frontage on Mokulua Drive.
