The Lanikai lifestyle

The Hawaiian name, Lanikai means "Sea Heaven."  Lanikai is just a 30 minute drive from Honolulu or the airport, five minutes to Kailua Town and light years away from the hustle and bustle ofthe rest of the world.

A long strip of sand meets the clear deep turquoise green water with twin islands, Mokumanu and Mokulua off shore, sanctuaries for seabirds, making this one of the most scenic beaches in Hawaii.  It is one of the best swimming beaches in the state.  There are places to kayak, windsurf, walk and ride bikes. Owning a home in Lanikai will have you feeling satisfied that you've picked one of the best places in the world to live.

The hillside overlooking Lanikai is home to Mid Pacific Country Club.  This private club boasts a golf course that's popular with United States presidents during their Hawaii vacations.  Mid Pacific Country Club opened in 1926 and its original name was Kailua Country Club.  The club's founder, Charles Frazier, was the original developer of the Lanikai community and he built the Kailua Country Club to promote sales of land parcels.  At the time (approximately 90 years ago) Lanikai had no running water nor electricity and properties didn't "sell themselves" as they do today.  Later, members of Kailua Country Club decided to change its name to Mid Pacific Country Club.  Its golf course opened in 1929 and it was open to the public, it cost just $1 to play nine holes.
